Polished finishes are popular on countertops for a formal look and in commercial office applications. The finish features a mirror-like, high-gloss surface which is created by grinding, sanding, and buffing. When using a polished finish for a floor, there are a few considerations. It can pose a slipping hazard when wet and also requires constant maintenance. It is recommended to get the slip-resistance of the particular polished material tested professionally before use. Some sealers do offer protection and can increase the slip-resistance of the polished surface.
