A honed finish is a favored choice for homes because it has a smooth, but not glossy, finish. This finish is ideal for low-maintenance and heavy-traffic applications. Honed differs from a polished finish because the last step of buffing is eliminated and the stone shows the subdued colors without the sheen. More of a matte finish, honed finishes are used in residential applications which call for a relaxed, casual feel.
